SEC Care Sweethearts raise $2,288 for Relay for Life 2019
A group of South Eastern Community Care staff and their families recently took part in the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life 2019.
Over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of March, the Athletics Centre on the Hobart Domain became a tent-city, with many people dressing up and enjoying the social occasion, while also remember the serious and important goal – raising funds and awareness for cancer support and research.
We are pleased to have participated in Relay for Life for three years now, as we know cancer has touched the lives of many of our staff, volunteers, clients and their families.
Since 2017, we have proudly raised over $6,050.

SEC Care CEO Helen Pollard said the Organisation was proud to offer their free community event during COTA’s Seniors Week.
“Despite a little rain while we were setting up, it was a wonderful day to hold a Community Expo, with many organisations coming together to share their knowledge and skills with the community,” Helen Pollard said.

“A great day was had by all who attended, with over 250 sausages and 30kgs of flour used for the free sausage sizzle and Devonshire Tea."
Early on Monday, 1 October, some SEC Care staff and board members had the privilege of escorting the Premier of Tasmania, Will Hodgman, and Member for Prosser, Jane Howlett, around our Somerville Street premises.
There are some exciting projects in the works at SEC Care that are set to benefit the whole community. Watch this space!

From 1 July 2018, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be available for children aged 0-3, and adults aged 35-49, which takes the ages eligible for NDIS to 0-49 years. The NDIS will also be available to adults aged 50-64 as of 1 January 2019, and by 1 July 2019, the NDIS will be available to all eligible Tasmanians.
If you are already receiving funding from Disability Services, you do not need to do anything – the NDIS will contact you and assist you to develop your first plan. It’s important that you tell your planner about the services you receive from South Eastern Community Care because these will need to be transferred.
If you receive Home and Community Care (HACC) services from South Eastern Community Care, you may be eligible for NDIS funding.
