Explore the possibilities of modern technology
In 2015, SEC Care ran a pilot program designed to demonstrate the possibilities available through technology by showing people how to effectively use iPads.
Needless to say, the results were positive and the dedicated group not only learnt valuable skills, they made some good friends in a safe and comfortable environment.
Across the group, the pilot iPad program was able to connect people with distant family and friends through real-time video communication (screen to screen), utilising free applications available through iPads such as Skype, Apple’s ‘Face Time’ feature and Facebook.
The iPads also gave participants the opportunity to shop online and have their groceries delivered to the door, as well as access books at home through the LINC.
Participants also learnt how to download free games that test memory and problem solving, as well as explore uncountable areas of interest on the internet.
At SEC Care we understand that people learn in different ways, which is why we would like to offer flexible learning opportunities that enable people of all ages to access the life-changing benefits of modern technology.
We are currently looking to run a similar program to the iPad pilot this year, but can only do so if the interest from the public (that’s you!) is there.
