Important information regarding Disability Services in Tasmania
NDIS Participant, Amy and SEC Care Disability Community Support Worker Gniare Forsyth
From 1 July 2018, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be available for children aged 0-3, and adults aged 35-49, which takes the ages eligible for NDIS to 0-49 years. The NDIS will also be available to adults aged 50-64 as of 1 January 2019, and by 1 July 2019, the NDIS will be available to all eligible Tasmanians.
If you are already receiving funding from Disability Services, you do not need to do anything – the NDIS will contact you and assist you to develop your first plan. It’s important that you tell your planner about the services you receive from South Eastern Community Care because these will need to be transferred.
If you receive Home and Community Care (HACC) services from South Eastern Community Care, you may be eligible for NDIS funding. This means that Day Centre, Nursing and Home Care Services will continue, but the funding arrangements will change. It also means that you may be entitled to additional support at home, and services that allow you to access the community. To determine this, you will need to check your eligibility by contacting the NDIS on 1800 800 110. Please note: if you do not meet NDIS eligibility – your services will continue as normal.
